Missionary Humor.

Life for us has been crazy but our help comes from the Lord Maker of Heaven and Earth. The gift of laughter always helps when times are tough. So the question for today is. How can you tell a new missionary from a long-termer? Well, if something falls on the floor ,( for example expensive butter or cheese,) the new missionary will throw it away while the long-termer will scrap off the bottom and use it any ways. And ants in the food, well, what are strainers for!!!
Summer is here and we have had some really hot days. I have found that cold showers can be refreshing. And spring break excitement means hanging out at a mall because they have central air conditioning.
It is always about is your cup half empty or half full.
A friend once told me that if we lower our expectations of people we will always be surpirsed instead of being disappointed, but if we have high expectations we can easily be hurt.
But our hope is in the Lord and HE never lets us down, we can count on HIM  daily. Praise His Name!!!

Double Injury to Right Knee and surgery.

We have had a busy week with Jake. He had surgery on his knee on Monday. We were praying that it would not be an ACL and was really surprised that it was a double tear, ACL AND MENISCUS . Minutes after the surgeon came in with the report, one of my Korean ladies sent me this message via tex.(Our Help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and Earth, i have set the Lord always before me because He is at my right hand I will not be shaken. )
This was  encouragement to my hurting heart which was thinking  of his road to recovery.  The Lord knows what is in store for Jake but as his mom, I was hoping for a quick recovery. There will be months of therapy and strengthening before he can return to his favorite sport. SKATEBOARDING. Can't keep a good man down though. After having to walk on curtches for several hours to do immigration things,  ( hard to believe our appointment was this week ) he was able to smile when we took him out to eat and to a movie. We are proud of him for being a trooper through all of this.

Supporting my friends

Caleb is starting to feel better after spending several days in the hospital week before last.  We finally got a DX of Mono. He wanted so much to play in his band concert but missed so many practices and was still so weak, however he is certainly a good-looking young man who dressed up so that he could go and support his class. He is growing so quickly and is looking smart standing here with BEAR.

Salvation Si Fernando

Recently, I traveled Isabella province  for a TEL outreach. I felt  the Lord's promting to take Fernando, our friend who had Leptospyrosis back in October. We have ongoing  Bible Study and outreach with his family and neighbor's on Thursdays. While on the trip with me, Fernando responded to the Gospel message and prayed to recieve Christ. Hallelujah  Hallelujah!.. Pray for his family now as we disciple Fernando. michael

We are blessed if we take the truth and use it.

Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near. Revelation 1:3

Taking my own supplies to hospital

We have lived in the Philippines for almost 6 years and I would have thought that by now I would get use to the Health care system. Took Caleb to ER on Sunday for possible appendix, but now it is tuesday and we know it is not appendix but still trying to figure out what is causing him to feel bad.  What made things hard is: forgot to take my supplies when i went to hospital. You know the linens , the towel and washrag, the eating utensils, your toliet paper, your pillow and blanket  and your own drinking water.  This is just part of the things we have to supply ourselves. Learning to be grateful for good doctors despite everything else and trusting the Lord to reveal what is going on and bring healing to Caleb very soon.
